Who we are
Tas-Tas is a community radiostation from the Basque Country, created in 1992. We broadcast through FM radio for all the area known as the “Great Bilbao”, in Bizkaia, and through the Internet as well. As a community radiostation, we are a non-profit project, independent from political, economic and religious lobbies. Through our radio programming, we try to reflect the activities, willings and daily conflicts of cultural and political people and groups in Bizkaia, the Basque Country and the rest of the world, which work everyday with the purpose of building a different world, with less authoritarianism and more freedom, justice and solidarity.
On the other hand, Ahlan is an old program in Tas-Tas (we have been broadcasting it for 8 years) whose subjects are the relations between diferent cultures and immigration. You can listen to it every wednesday from 9 to 10 in the evening, and every thursday, from 9 to 10 in the morning. The vast majority of the people who make the program are immigrants who have come to the Basque Country in order to, if possible, have a social and labour life, . The program has a structure based on three different parts: the first one are the news, which are related, one way or another, with the immigration. Secondly, an interview, most of the times with immigrants or with people who have worked or are working about immigration in different associations or collectives; and last but not least, the agenda, in which we emphasize cultural, social and political activities made in the Great Bilbao, with immigration as a common link. In the program music is also very important, we try to choose songs from different parts of the world, something we consider essential in a program based on the relations among different cultures.
